Brazil:
Full Support to the Tube Workers' Strike!
São Paulo underground workers began their strike at midnight on June 25. The workers' meeting of this afternoon decided to maintain the strike in the face of the intransigence of the management, the State government and the Regional Court of Justice (RCJ). Some reports of the strike
"The workers will not accept the ruling of the RCJ for a return to work by 10 pm. The Union could be fined 100,000 Real "
"The court judged, by 11 to 0 votes, that the strike was causing an excessive paralysis, and that work should be resumed by 22 hours. By 10 to 1 votes, it also fixed a daily fine of 100.000 Real in the event of the measure not being respected. If the tubeworkers went back to work there would be no fine"
"Two years without any increase, the workers are demanding a 7.74% wage rise, plus 4.14% for productivity and 7.86% to make up for inflation in the period from 1999 to 2000"
"The management of the underground is calling the workers to return to work immediately. The Company is threatening to take "all legal measures necessary if the paralysis goes on and the decision of the RCJ is not respected"
We know that the pressure against the tube workers will be huge and it is at this moment that they need all possible support to defeat the wretched management of the underground and the bourgeois justice system will always be at the bosses' service.
- Full support to the Undergound Strike!
- Grant the workers' demands!
- No trust in the justice of the bosses and the Fernando Henriques Cardoso Government!
- No to Tube Privatisation!
- The CUT (TUC) should call all activists and unions to strengthen the Tubeworkers' Strike

Update:
Dear comrades,
We received a message this morning from the comrades in Sao Paolo to say that the tube-workers' strike has ended and the 7% rise has been won. No other details at the moment.
Many thanks!
